Getting to Know Us - Lauryn, Store Manager

Employee Spotlight - Lauryn

Ch-ch-changes, oh look out you rock n rollers………David Bowie.

Change is inevitable and in the air at Mountain Madness Soap. Felicia, who was our amazing store manager for the past 3 years, recently moved to Portland Oregon. Although we miss her dearly, we are very excited to see her off on a new adventure.

Lauryn has worked customer service in our store for almost two years and became the store manager once Felicia set out for Portland. Promoting Lauryn to a management position was not a difficult decision. During her time with Mountain Madness, she has been an amazing employee with a strong work ethic as well as a constant source of creativity. I asked multiple Mountain Madness employees how they would describe Lauryn and without hesitation they all said ‘creative’. Lauryn takes any task, from decorating the store window to doodles in the margins of a quick note and makes it a masterpiece. We are confident in her abilities as a manager and to keep creating the welcoming space our store is known for.  April 24th is Lauryn’s birthday, she was recently promoted to store manager, and in a very short time she will be getting married. Lauryn has many positive and exciting changes happening in her life and we’re happy to share them with her.

How long have you been at MMS and what is your position?

I have been at Mountain Madness for over a year and a half. I was recently promoted to store manager.

How did you become a member of the MMS family?

I saw a hiring ad on Facebook. At the time I wanted to leave the food industry and focus on a job that I would truly be interested in. I am a big fan of skin care and beauty, so Mountain Madness was perfect for me.

What is your favorite part about working at MMS?

One thing I love about working here is having a lot of creative freedom. Having an impact on how the store and displays look makes me extremely happy. Especially when customers make positive comments on how the store looks.

Sometimes ‘it’s the little things’ – what’s one little thing about MMS you love?

I love being a part of such a loving business. I appreciate how Mountain Madness stands for what they believe in and how giving this company is. Mountain Madness truly cares about the community as well as their staff. I know everyone here has my back and it’s a very drama free environment.

How do you collaborate?

I collaborate by making sure every voice is heard. I will always be considerate of ideas and issues. I love that we have a smaller team because it allows us to collaborate well.

What skills do feel you most often use?

Customer service is an important skill I use daily. I was raised in a family business which has helped me build good communication skills. Communication is extremely important to make connections with people and customers. My artistic side has also been useful when working in the store. I create new displays and signs for different products and collections. Having a creative eye helps attract more people to the store.

What is your superpower?

I am not afraid to stick up for others and what I believe in. I can easily speak my mind and opinions and I do not let negativity move me. I can be very stubborn, which is both a gift and a curse.

What is your favorite part of the day?

Being able to see my rad coworkers. I have made some of my closest friends here. I also love creating art and inspiration on our daily work sheets. We write our daily tasks and goals on a sheet to share for the day. I love to spice up the pages with fun drawings and a quote.

What are your hobbies?

In my free time I love to paint, craft, and dance. I also love watching paranormal investigations on YouTube and playing video games. I love to collect crystals and I am a big fan of dying my hair. When I am out of the house, I am usually visiting friends or eating out.
