MMSCo. COVID-19 FAQ's - INTERNAL ONLY

Last Updated on 3/16/2020

What is this page for?

This page is to keep you, our Mountain Madness Soap Co. family, informed about all things COVID-19 related.

What are our general response criteria based on?

We are looking for guidance from our local, State and Federal governments on what we should do. As things change, we are making decisions and obviously things are changing quickly.

What the heck is going on?

As of now, there is a very patchwork response occurring in our Country.  The entire goal of the efforts is to slow the spread of the disease to “flatten the curve” of infections so that our health care systems and society can better handle the influx of sick people. Having more people infected over a longer period of time is much easier to sustain rather than a very large spike in infections.

At the Federal level, we are hearing very little and have no guidance.  States and local governments are starting to mandate school closures and the cancellation of all gatherings of 50 or more people. Some have gone further and have closed all restaurants and bars. Locally we have not received any guidance as of yet.

What are we doing?

We are closing the store-front effective immediately to minimize contact with the public. We will still be doing production and selling online for mail delivery and in-person, zero-contact pickup. We are offering free shipping on all orders and expect a surge in online sales so will be scheduling store staff to help with order fulfillment, labeling, etc.

What do I do if I have any symptoms or think I have been exposed to others with symptoms?

Number one, do not come into work or go out in public. If you have any of the following symptoms, you need to seek care from your primary care provider, an Urgent Care or the emergency room.  Fever, cough or shortness of breath are all symptoms. Many healthcare providers are asking that patients please call ahead. They will determine your course of treatment and whether you need to be tested for the virus.

What do we think will happen and what will we do?

We think that mandated closures of all public spaces, including non-essential retail stores such as ours, is a very real possibility.  As other countries are implementing full shutdowns, we expect that this will happen in the United States, we just do not know when. If this happens, we will continue business with production and online sales.

How will this affect me?

We will do everything in our power to make sure that you continue to receive paychecks even if you have to self-quarantine and stay home.

Fortunately, we have had a fantastic year so financially we are in very good shape right now. We expect online sales to sustain us for the foreseeable future and will be pushing all sales in that direction starting today with some coordinated social media and newsletter efforts.

Obviously, this is a rapidly changing situation and we will do our best to keep everyone informed. We love you all and we will all get through this together.

Peace. Love. Soap.
